Intimate Wedding on the Appalachian Trail / Ashley & Tyler

Ashley and Tyler drove down from Michigan, with their little one and extended families in tow, to tie the knot in the mountains. Everyone got ready together in the cabins they rented in the Wolf Laurel community while the sun shone.

We headed out the door to drive over to Roan Highlands/ Carver’s Gap area for the incredible views our mountains are so well known for. Unfortunately as soon as we started gaining elevation the clouds became thicker and thicker, until we were right in the middle of them and couldn't see 10 feet in front of us.

The only options at that point were to get married in the fog, drive back down and try to find a place in the sun that would hold everyone, or wait until the next day to see if it was different. And after waiting it out awhile to see if anything we would change weather wise they decided to go for it :) Last year/season was one of the foggiest I've ever encountered, and it seems like I'm writing about people pushing through the circumstances all the time. I've been so fortunate to have couples that are truly up for an adventure and willing to forgo their carefully made plans for what's truly important and the reason everyone is there is to celebrate them.

So they did it! After a first look in the goldenrod flowers Ashley and Tyler said their vows and a good friend officiated their ceremony.

The next day we met up again to climb Big Bald Mountain, also on the Appalachian Trail and just across from where they were staying, for a day after session. And we couldn't have asked for a prettier day. The sun was out and the clouds in the distance made for a beautiful backdrop.

Check out photos from both days below :)
